About the Film

A feature film written, directed, and produced by Philip J. Cook — Eagle Films.

When a digital creator unearths a cursed film buried for over a century, she unknowingly unleashes a nightmare that spreads through her audience. As her followers fall under its sinister influence, she must race to stop an ancient evil before it turns the internet into its hunting ground.

Released in 1998, Despiser introduced audiences to a surreal universe where reality and nightmare existed side by side. Rather than producing a direct sequel, Echoes of Dread expands that mythology through an entirely new story and cast of characters. New audiences can experience the film on its own, while longtime fans will discover connections that reward their familiarity with the earlier film.

Principal photography took place on location throughout Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C., utilizing historic locations, underground tunnels, forests, and practical environments to create the film's distinctive atmosphere. Rather than relying exclusively on computer-generated imagery, Echoes of Dread combines practical photography with carefully integrated digital visual effects, continuing Eagle Films' long tradition of maximizing production value through creative problem solving.
